One of the coolest cyberware weapons in the franchise was left out of Cyberpunk 2077. Here’s why it could have been one of the best as well.

Summary
- Players are missing out on one of the coolest cyberware weapons in Cyberpunk 2077.
- This special cyberware is present in the tabletop Cyberpunk RPGs that inspired the game.
- The cyberware would have been a great boon for stealth builds in Cyberpunk 2077.
Players are missing out on one of the coolest cyberware weapons in Cyberpunk 2077, as the game cut it out from its base material. The critically acclaimed action RPG by CD Projekt Red was first created based on the 1988 tabletop RPG called Cyberpunk, by Mike Pondsmith. Because of this, a lot of the game’s features are inspired by the original game. Prior to the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, the fourth edition of the tabletop game, named Cyberpunk Red, was released, serving as a prequel to the story told in the video game by the renowned Polish studio, also responsible for the series of The Witcher games.
With Cyberpunk Red, several new features and implements were introduced. Although many of these updated core elements from the tabletop series were incorporated into the game by CD Projekt Red, there were some that were left out. One of these cut elements from the game just so happens to be one of the coolest cyberware weapons available in the entire franchise and one that would have gone along extremely well with stealth builds in Cyberpunk 2077. Although not every single feature from the tabletop title Cyberpunk Red could have made it to the final version of the video game, this one certainly deserved it.

Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 update has made changes to skill checks, scaling them to increase alongside a player's level, but this has caused several issues.Cyberpunk 2077 Should Have Added Vampyres

One of the coolest cyberware weapons in the franchise is called Vampyres. This is an internal body cyberware that lives up to its name. In essence, the player replaces their set of regular teeth with Vampyres, sharpened teeth that can be used to bite opponents for damage. It is considered an Excellent Quality Light Melee Weapon in the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk Red and could have been adapted to fit into the world of Cyberpunk 2077 – especially when considering the video game has cyberware like Mantis Blades or Monowire. It would have likely required an extra cyberware Face or Skeleton slot to implement, but Vampyres could have worked.
Prior to Cyberpunk Red , the older editions of the tabletop game called the cyberware “ Vampires. ”
Vampyres Could Have Been Great For Stealth Builds In Cyberpunk 2077

Vampyres is actually a very great stealth weapon to use in the tabletop RPG. This is mainly due to two important factors: it is easily concealable, and it does not produce any noise when utilized. If it were adapted into Cyberpunk 2077, players could walk around with Vampyres without ever getting noticed – even stealth-based cyberware like Mantis Blades has marks on the arms, whereas Vampyres would only require the host to keep their mouth closed. In addition to that, they could be utilized for stealth kills and even enhanced, so as to shut the target’s mouth to prevent them from screaming when being attacked.
Another very cool feature of the Vampyres cyberware is its ability to carry lethal substances. In Cyberpunk Red, Vampyres have a slot inside them that allows players to insert a Vial of Poison or Vial of Biotoxin and, in doing so, deliver bites that are coated with dangerous materials. This would fit in perfectly with Cyberpunk 2077 and its combat system. Even with stealth, some enemies have a health bar that sustains heavy damage and can make it out alive after being critically wounded. If Poison or Biotoxin were upgrades for the Vampyres cyberware in the video game, this could substantially increase the weapon’s damage output against opponents.
These toxins could also have a secondary effect, perhaps stunning foes and leaving them more susceptible. The concealed nature of the weapon itself, combined with the chance of adding a lethal coating to attacks would have opened up a whole new branch of possibilities in the realm of stealth gameplay in Cyberpunk 2077, especially for players looking to use fewer firearms and more cyberware. Additionally, it would be a more discrete one at that. Other melee stealth options often have exaggerated animations that destroy the immersion into stealth itself, so Vampyres would have been the prime choice had it been added into the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Should Have Introduced Vampyres

Even if Vampyres was not originally introduced in the base game, the very enticing cyberware should have at least made its way into the game via the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Phantom Liberty. The expansion added a large load of content, including a dense new storyline that ties into the main one, as well as a whole new map area and plenty of new weapons. The game also saw a few new cyberware being added with the DLC. In fact, there was a complete cyberware rework with Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty that revamped the entire experience. Nevertheless, the Vampyres cyberware was left out of it.
CD Projekt Red missed out on a grand opportunity to introduce one of the coolest cyberwares in the Cyberpunk franchise via the DLC. Not only would Vampyres have been a great implement to gameplay itself, but it would have also matched the general theme of the Phantom Liberty expansion. This is especially true when considering how much stealth has been improved with the various options presented by the DLC, mostly due to all the new weapons in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Regardless, most stealth-melee builds in the game could have been greatly improved with the presence of Vampyres as a cyberware option.
That is not to say that Vampyres will never see the light of day in a Cyberpunk video game by CD Projekt Red. In fact, there is still hope for the cyberware with the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel known as Project Orion. The title is also commonly referred to as Cyberpunk 2077 2. At this moment, very few details about the upcoming game are known but, seeing that Cyberpunk 2077 will not receive a second DLC in the same proportions as Phantom Liberty, the best shot for Vampyres to make a playable appearance will be with the next game in the series.
It may be several years before Project Orion is ready to be released, and it may not even be directly connected to Cyberpunk 2077 itself, but it is the only plausible place that Vampyres could make an appearance in the future, other than new editions of the tabletop game. While unconfirmed, the implementation of the Vampyres cyberware in the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel could be extremely beneficial, not only due to its novelty but how much stealth gameplay can be further improved to rely less on silenced firearms and more on the core aspect of the game, cyberwares.
