As a child, Kim was born and raised in San Joaquin, California.
Parents : Kim’s father worked at a men’s suit shop. He frequently met customers who were news anchors, media directors, and managers of local TV stations. Kim’s mother didn’t go to college but mentioned that she would’ve loved to be a news broadcaster.
Kim grew up looking up to her mother and father, and that changed her professional life forever. It sparked in her a dream of seeing the world for all its beauty. She saw that dream fulfilled when she eventually became a reporter and meteorologist.
Quintero chose this field because, quote, “I realized that weather impacts every facet of our lives. It can make or break communities, economies, infrastructure, and the food we grow, down to vacations, weddings, sporting events, and everything in between.”

Kim’s success started before the average person’s life adventure would begin: She landed her first paid position with KMPH Fox in Fresno during her senior year in college.
In 2008, Kim reported on wildfires in a National Forest in Central Oregon. These wildfires forced many to abandon their homes. The report won the award for “Best Continuing Coverage” in the summer of that year.
Throughout her career, Quintero has covered snowstorms, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and disastrous events such as “Hurricane Irene” & “Superstorm Sandy,” adventure after adventure, never knowing what the days ahead would bring her.
